Breakfast has plenty of choices, all fresh and many things home-made. Dinner the same, very delicious, every day a different daily special with as much as possible from their own garden. One night we tried their wine pairing dinner to try their wines.
Service is outstanding in any regard.
Got offered a free upgrade to the master suite for one night.
Wifi could be better though.
We enjoyed and loved our stay very much!
My partner and I stayed at Conti di San Bonifacio Wine Resort for one night to discover a new part of Tuscany, and overall, I felt it was a great hotel... read more in a very special place surrounded by vineyards.
We went in the off-season, and were able to snag a relatively cheap room through the Small Luxury Hotels of the World association. The package we bought came with an upgrade and we were given one of the two vineyard-facing suites. I think that is their top level, and it is obvious.
The room has amazing view over their vineyards when you were tucked away from everyone else so there was privacy. The room is very tastefully designed and the bathroom is huge. They also have very nice toiletries that I wasn’t familiar with before.
The scenery and the idea of staying in the vineyard is great. Vines go as far as the eye can see. It’s a bit of a trek to find this hotel, but it’s worth it.
The restaurant located in the hotel is delectable, and has a lot of their own wines as well as a very good wine list of other Italian options.
We also arranged a wine tasting on the deck near the restaurant and it was great! Great surroundings. More

Conti di San Bonifacio does a great job in marketing and creating the allure of a beautiful, hillside winery and retreat in Tuscany; the grounds look... read more beautiful.
However, in reaching out to their team to cancel our honeymoon, sadly, due to COVID-19 and travel restrictions and health risks, their response was:
"Regarding your deposit, as you know we are unable to make refunds as per our Hotel policy."
I can see if we were still coming to Italy... wanted to stay somewhere else, and gave them little notice. However, I shared that we would love to book at a later date, but that we would like to fully cancel and start fresh when the world has calmed down.
The Deputy Manager on staff has doubled down on "hotel policy," ignoring the force majeure (unforeseeable circumstances that prevent someone from fulfilling a contract) that will preclude us from going to Italy in the foreseeable future (from Hawaii, mind you, 8,000 miles away).
The other three hotels we booked - in Bellagio, Cinque Terre, and Florence - all got back to us with full refunds and messages that essentially say, "sorry to hear, we get it, can't wait for you to rebook with us." Conti di San Bonifacio got back to us and essentially shared that our deposit was more important to them than our experience, contract or no contract, honeymoon or no honeymoon. This is a poor display from a hospitality organization that claims superior, world class service and experience.
I am sure people can go and stay at Conti di San Bonifacio and have a great time; I am sure the grounds are beautiful, the suites luxurious, the food wonderful, and the wine amazing. However, what they still need help understanding is that the customer experience must always come first - that is where their reputation, credibility, and integrity will be earned. And that 700 Euro up front would have been 3500 Euro this summer or fall, if only the customer and the customer experience was first.
Holding deposits during a global pandemic, and referring to your hotel policy, is a trite, short-term business strategy that puts the core values and ethos of Conti di San Bonifacio on display. It is my hope that they can evolve from their near-sightedness and evaluate whether or not they are truly world class.

If you plan not to bring a car, be aware that you'll be limited on what you can do unless you don't mind paying for a taxi or a transfer to one of the neighboring towns. This was completely fine with us, as we were there to relax and enjoy the property for the most part. We rented a Vespa one afternoon and the chef packed us a beautiful (and huge!!!) picnic to take to a nearby lake. Otherwise, we just spent our time lazing about and enjoying beautiful wine and views. If the weather had been a tad warmer we would've loved taking a dip in the lovely pool. We also enjoyed a private cocktail class on site, which was great fun. Next time, we'll be sure to take advantage of one of the wine tasting experiences as well.
By and large, one of the highlights of Conti di San Bonifacio is the staff. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful, and since it's such an intimate property you really feel like you start to get to know people over your stay. They are clearly well versed in hospitality and know how to make their guests feel welcome, and it also seems that they genuinely enjoy working there (which is no surprise, given what a lovely place it is!). We hope we can return soon and that we may see some of the same kind faces from this stay!
If I had one tiny little gripe, it would be the small issue of flies and some other kind of bugs (not sure what they were, they looked like what we just call stink bugs in the South) - they tend to leave doors and windows open to enjoy the beautiful fresh air here, which is wonderful, but the bugs did get to be quite a nuisance at certain points. Of course you expect some of that in a country setting like this, to be sure. There were just a few times when we would've liked to sit outside or on the porch but there were so many flies, and they were so aggressive, that we ended up moving back inside to our room where we had screens on the windows (even with the screens, those stink-bug guys kept getting into the room quite often). I said to my husband on the last day that if we had been anywhere else, I probably would've been pretty annoyed by the bugs - admittedly I'm not a very "naturey" person - BUT, everything else was so wonderful at Conti di San Bonifacio, and I loved it there so very much, that it really felt inconsequential. It almost somehow just felt like part of the charm of the place. And it would certainly not keep us from coming back!
I would highly recommend this resort if you're looking for a true getaway in the Tuscan countryside. An absolute gem, and we can't wait to come back! More
